Dr. N. B. Prakash Professor Department of Soil Science & Agriculture Chemistry University of Agricultural Sciences GKVK, Bangalore was awarded the "Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award" for Best Agriculture Practices. This prestigious award was presented on the "53 Foundation Day" April 10th, 2018 by the Award Committee at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangaluru.
LSU Graduate Student Dr. Flavia Agostinho took 1st place in the SSSA Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition Ph.D. Poster Competition held during the ASA-CSSA-SSSA International Annual Meeting in Tampa, FL, October 22-25, 2017. She presented her dissertation research “Arsenic adsorption in soil with increasing levels of monosilicic acid in solution: a laboratory incubation study”.
It is quite notable too that the previous year, she won 1st place in the same division for the Ph.D. Oral Competition, ASA-CSSA-SSSA Annual Meeting held in Phoenix, AZ, 2016. The title of her oral presentation was “Arsenic dynamics and fractions in silicon-treated soil and its accumulation in rice”. Click to listen.
2017, Dr. Adam Frew of the Postdoctoral Research Fellow School of Agricultural and Wine Science at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Australia was recently appointed a fellowship at Charles Sturt University in Australia with the main goal of elucidating the mechanisms underpinning silicon enhanced plant growth and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. "The People's Republic of China Friendship Award" is the highest award for "foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country's economic and social progress". Vladimir Matichenkov and his wife Elena were presented this award along with 50 other nominees. Jian Feng MA was chosen the 2015 American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) Top Author for his work on plant mineral stress tolerance and mineral transport systems in plants. Dr. Ma is the recipient of a number of awards, including the JSPS Prize (2005), the Japan Academy Medal (2006), the Award of the Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (2007), and the Kihara Award (2012).
